PLUGHEAD

Wasn’t expecting to ever re-visit this #inktober, but it seemed to get a good reaction and I kind of dig the design. I had the idea to do a plug head for a long time. Came out much different than I imagined, but meh, still like it.

Think of the possibilities with this dude. You could plug a billion of them together. Tooth to head. Tooth to head. So on.

I tortured myself trying to find a good color palette for this. I needed to dive into some references from some of my favorite artists and I think this one worked really well.

The coloring process started off relatively painless. In fact, I remember thinking “hey this is pretty easy and fluid!” Then I got to the eye sockets. Good Lord. Those really gave me the business. Also the plug itself was a little troublesome. Utilized a different shading tactic that I think works. Probably going to be one of those things I look back on and say “what the farts was I thinking!?”

A mixture of pixels and vector for this dude. The PLUGHEAD himself is all vector, the background is a shitload of grunge texture brushes I created in Photoshop. I think I might want to revisit this in the future and add more of a background element. Maybe some lightning bolts shuffling around.

Now, back to the other projects I need to wrap up:
-Finish “AWFUL ALPHABET”
-Re-do “MEGA MAN RETIRES”
-Re-color “I GUESS I’LL BE ON MY WAY” and “MELTY”
