Irradiated Gorilla Brains on the verge to drivin’ you insane.
Not entirely sure why irradiated gorilla brains would drive you insane, but I needed a catchy tag line. And that’s about as creative as I can get with rhyming.
I started doodling this (well, half of this) in my note book the other day and kinda liked where it was headed. Remember the old Gorilla Brains speed sketch? I do! I just re-watched it! Why is the quality so bad! It’s a throw back! It’s a throw back Thursday on a Tuesday!
I’ve been working on more flat stuff. You know, limited the old color selection. Grinding it down to 3 to 4 colors. Gotta make them pop though, you know? I mean, when you think of irradiated gorilla brains, you gotta go with green right? WRONG. I almost went with THIS color scheme. And now I’m kinda digging it looking back. Whatever, I’ll release a variation of that one too. I think it’s good to have a variety.
So to walk you through the process…
Threw together a little sketch. Took a picture with my archaic phone from the Stone Age. Imported said picture into Adobe Illustrator. Traced that half of the face with the pen tool and reflected it. Found out it wasn’t going to work as a perfect reflection. Tweaked the lines for awhile. Said YAHOO when I got it to work. Adjusted the teeth and brain matter. Put a double stroke around the face to give it an OOOOOOMPH PUNCH.
Then I took it to Photoshop. Placed the vector in and made a step and repeat transform pattern for the background. Later I realized I could have made a custom pattern of a circle to fill the background but WHATEVER, it’s a learning process. Repeated the circles across the canvas, and that was that… You know?
Anyway, Irradiated Gorilla Brains is available at Redbubble and Society 6. It’ll be uploaded to DesignByHumans and TeePublic later this week too. Check out some of the available products in the slideshow below. Now it’s on to finishing that beer label. Wish me luck.
